An Afternoon of Indian Classical Music
Join us at UUMAN (11420 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA) on Sunday, June 21, 2–4 PM for an intimate afternoon of Hindustani classical music. Raga Sandhya — meaning “twilight melody” — brings together two world-class artists for their first performance together in Georgia. Doors open at 1:30 PM. Free parking. All ages welcome.
$25 suggested donation — a free ticket option is also available on Eventbrite, and you’re welcome to give what you can. All proceeds support the performing artists and the Antara School of Indian Classical Music in Austin, TX.

One of the foremost exponents of the Maihar Gharana, Indrajit Banerjee comes from a remarkable musical lineage. His mother was a disciple of the legendary Pandit Nikhil Banerjee, and his training passed through Pandit Manilal Nag of the Bishnupur Gharana before deepening under his uncle Pandit Kartick Kumar — a senior disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar. An A-Grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan and an empaneled artist of the ICCR (Govt. of India), Indrajit has performed across Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, and the Middle East, and has collaborated with artists including Sting and members of the Dave Matthews Band. He is the founder and director of the Antara School of Indian Classical Music in Austin, TX.

One of India’s leading tabla players, Subrata Bhattacharya trained under several distinguished masters — including Shri Tamal Krishna Chatterjee, Shri Nripen Karmakar, and Shri Tapan Kr. Banerjee — before being accepted as a pupil of tabla maestro Pandit Shankar Ghosh, establishing himself as a worthy exponent of the Farukhabad Gharana. His awards include the Sangeet Prabhakar Gold Medal, Sangeet Praveen from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, and Sangeet Bhushan from Bhatkhande College, Lucknow. He has performed at prestigious venues including the Dover Lane Music Conference, ITC Sangeet Sammelan Calcutta, the National Center for Performing Arts Mumbai, and India International Center Delhi, and has accompanied luminaries such as Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Dr. L. Subramaniam, and Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. A former visiting professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, he is also the founder of the fusion ensemble NAAD — The Everlasting Sound.
