Bhagirath Majmudar, M.D. receives Georgia ObGyn Award
The Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society has honored Dr. Bhagirath Majmudar with the Society's 2017 Distinguished Service Award, for his outstanding contributions to clinical medicine and women's health during his lifetime and his support to the specialty of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
This is the first time that the Society is giving the award to someone outside their immediate specialty. Dr. Majmudar, an emeritus Professor of Pathology and Associate Professor of Gynecology-Obstetrics at Emory University, has received numerous previous awards, including the Papageorge Distinguished Teaching Award from Emory Medical School.
In addition to his contributions to the medical field, Dr. Majmudar serves as a Hindu priest; he has officiated at 350 weddings, a large number of them being interfaith.
