“A lot of people get the tone wrong in comedy. It’s a fine line, you know, in how far to push the characters before they become so broad they’re just cartoons.” (IGN.com)

CHANDRASEKHAR FACTS
Jayanth Jambulingam “Jay” Chandrasekhar, the son of two physicians who immigrated from Tamil Nadu, grew up in Chicago and graduated from Lake Forest Academy, before heading to Colgate University in New York.
While in college, he joined a student sketch comedy troupe called Charred Goosebeak. After graduation, he and four friends—Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske—moved to New York City and formed the comedy troupe Broken Lizard, performing live shows in comedy clubs in the early 1990s. The group broke into films in 1996 with Puddle Cruiser and has collaborated on five films, including the 2001 cult-hit Super Troopers.
Along with Heffernan, Chandrasekhar has been the primary director of the group’s films. He also directed the 2005 movie The Dukes of Hazzard and about 30 episodes of shows such as Arrested Development and Chuck.
He and his actress-wife, Susan Clarke, whom he married in 2005, live in Mahopac, N.Y. They have one child.
