Manna Dey no more

Legendary playback singer Manna Dey, popularly known as Mannada, breathed his last at a Bangalore hospital on October 24. He was 94. Counted among the golden voices of Hindi cinema, Manna Dey had been battling lung infection and renal problems for the last five months. Romantic, classical, and fun songs—Mannada sang them all in a career spanning over six decades.

His all-time hits include “Laaga chunari mein daag,” “Aye meri zohra jabeen,” “Na to karawan ki talaash,” and the laugh riot “Ek chatur naar,” to name just a few.
