– An official
announcement is made stating that
Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime
minister, will visit California and the
West Coast for the first time.
He arrived in California on
October 30th. After speaking
at the University of California,
Berkeley, the announcement
states, “He will return to San
Francisco in the afternoon
and meet all Hindustanees at
the Scottish Rite Auditorium
located at Sutter Street and
Van Ness Avenue….This is a
rare occasion and therefore no
Hindustanee should miss this
wonderful opportunity.” The
announcement was signed by
Godha Ram Channon, secretary
of the reception committee.
