ANDREWS FACTS
Andrews, whose parents immigrated from Kerala, grew up in Wandsworth, South London, and attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His first major role was in Hanif Kureishi's London Kills Me in 1991.
When he was just 16, he fell in love with his math teacher, Geraldine Feakins, 15 years his senior. "I must stress that we didn't begin living together until I was over 18," Andrews told People magazine. The couple later had a son, Jaisal, now 13.
An addiction to drugs and alcohol in his twenties almost ruined his career. He went into rehab after coming to America eight years ago. "I have to admit that now I'm sober, I'm glad for having gone through it. I think there's no other way I could have gone," he told The Telegraph.
Last year, while briefly separated from his partner, Barbara Hershey, he fathered a son with another woman.
In 2005, he received an Emmy nomination for Lost, in which he plays Sayid Jarrah, a former member of the Iraqi Republican Guard.
