MOVE OVER KARDASHIANS, HERE COME THE KESWANIS
A new web series called The Keswanis: A Most Modern Family debuted recently on People.com, featuring an Indian-American family that hopes to replace the Kardashians as the most famous family in America, at least in the realm of reality shows. That may be a tall order, but the Keswanis have enough interesting members (to put it mildly) to generate millions of online views. There’s a 17-year-old boy with dwarfism named Nik, who’s known as BigNik on Vine, where he boasts more than two million followers; 15-year-old Sarina, a pageant princess; and 6-year-old Devina, a transgender child.
Their parents are “momager” Vaishali and “doctor dad” Anil, overseeing a family facing a variety of issues, such as Vaishali’s struggles to send Nik off to college, Sarina’s concerns about body image and her overprotective father, and Devina’s encounters with bullies at school.
“That is not your normal American family,” Vaishali told People. “It’s not necessarily how we envisioned our life to be, but it’s a life that’s so full and rich.”
