McDONALD’S INTRODUCES ‘MASALA DOSA BURGERS’
Fast food restaurants in India are always adjusting their menus to cater to Indian tastes, but McDonald’s may be trying a little too hard. The restaurant chain recently launched a new breakfast menu that includes masala dosa burgers with molaga podi sauce. They joined such favorites as the paneer wrap and the McAloo Tikki.
Twitter users were quick to deride the masala dosa burger. Quipped Nitin Srivatsa (@Nitin_Srivatsa): “People who use misleading vehicle indicators on main roads should be forcibly fed the new McDonald’s Masala Dosa Burger.”
Writing a review on Quartz India, Supriya Nair pointed out that the so-called masala dosa burger was in fact a “dosa masala brioche—a shellacked sandwich stuffed with the potato filling of a masala dosa.”
Nair wasn’t impressed, describing it as “dull, flat, and stale” and asserting that “this sandwich, while not outright horrifying, is definitely among the worse breakfasts you’ll eat not simply around the city, but inside McDonald’s itself.”
McDonald’s may need to go back to the drawing board. Idli Chutney Burger anyone?
