Good Sports: HISTORIC WIN FOR WOMEN’S CRICKET
The Indian men’s team captured most of the attention when they swept their recent Twenty20 International series against Australia, but it was the women’s team who made history.
Beating the Aussies 2-1 in their three-game T20 series, they registered their first series win in any format against Australia. They won the first match by five wickets and the second by 10 wickets, before losing the third by 15 runs.
“Since most of us have not played in Australia before, I did not expect to go on to win the series,” Captain Mithali Raj told DNA. “We thought we’d win one match at the most. It came as a pleasant surprise.”
