Good Sports: CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS
Jitu Rai may not have an Olympic medal to his name, but he’s still one of the best Indian shooters ever. Last month, Rai won the Champion of Champions pistol award and a cash prize of 5,000 euros in the World Cup Final in Bologna, Italy. Winners of each pistol event competed for the Champions of Champions title in a knockout competition.
Ranked 6th in the world in 10m air pistol and 7th in 50m pistol, Rai was disappointed by his performance at the Rio Olympics, where he finished 8th and 12th in his two events respectively. He hopes to do much better at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
“I can assure everyone that I have learned from that experience and it’s only going to make me a better shooter,” Rai told Sportskeeda.com. “There is no excuse for letting my country down, but all I can say is that I will come back stronger.”
