Shruthilaya, the Carnatic Music School in Atlanta, has been conducting Carnatic Music competitions for the past six years for ages 5 years to 25 years. This year the children competed with preliminary rounds on April 30th and the finals on May 21st at the Hindu Temple of Atlanta.
Many children from Atlanta and near by states participated in the event. The panel of judges were Dr. Geetha Ramanathan Bennett from California and Dr. Seshu Sarma and Papanasam Gokul from Atlanta. Theory questions were asked which was interesting and challenging for the participants.
A vocal concert was given by Dr. Geetha Bennett, accompanied by Papanasam Gokul on violin and Dr. Ram Sriram on Mridangam, after which the judges awarded prizes to the winners, and all the children took blessings from the judges.
