The IAPA-Georgia chapter’s recent annual meeting was attended by 41 psychiatrists and their guests. Ten exhibit tables were set up by vendors, and a presentation was given on the new Exelon patch, the first and only patch for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. Sells Financial also made a brief presentation. Dr. Mahendra Shah, current president of the Georgia chapter, Dr. Rudra Prakash, president-elect of IAPA, and Dr. Dilip Patel, founding president of the Georgia chapter, all spoke, celebrating the chapter’s success: the chapter has been having monthly round table dinner meetings at local restaurants for the past 5 years with attendance growing to an average of 12-15 on a regular basis. Meetings support the membership professionally and socially.
This annual meeting was complete with entertainment: a skit performed by Dr. Harshad Patel and Dr. Joglekar, and after dinner, some comedy and dancing to old and new Hindi/Urdu melodies sung by local artists from 9pm to midnight.

On a “peachy” Atlanta evening, November 20, 2010, the Georgia chapter of IAPA (Indo-American Psychiatric Association) held its 5th annual Diwali meeting at the Holiday Inn in Roswell, GA. The 31-year-old IAPA, a subchapter of the American Psychiatric Association, has 15 state chapters around North America, providing a forum for psychiatrists of Asian-Indian origin to address the bicultural mental health needs of the Indo-American community.
