Final Cup Match of the Atlanta Georgia Cricket Conference

The Atlanta Georgia Cricket Conference (AGCC) took the game in the Atlanta area to a pinnacle by organizing different tournaments namely - the Premier Championship League, the Star Championship League, and the 20-20 Championship. 18 teams participated in the tournament sponsored by FutureTech Consultants LLC with players from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and West Indian origins. The Star Championship league was won earlier by the Conyers Cricket Club.

On August 19th, North Atlanta Cricket Club and OM Cricket Club met in the finals of the Premier Championship League. Spectators thronged at this final match to root for their favorite teams. Om Cricket Club returned to avenge their previous loss where as North Atlanta Cricket Club came to win a title for the second time. North Atlanta Cricket Club won the toss and OM Cricket Club was the first to bat. Sanjay Patel and Sanjeev Patel started building up a partnership for OM. They initially batted carefully and started opening up with some great hits. With the help of these two batsmen, OM was able to muster a total of 122 runs in 45 overs. Pleased with their bowling and fielding performance, North Atlanta was hoping for an easy win.

Although, the score was low, OM had confidence in their bowlers and fielders. Jay Patel, OM's captain, captained the team well throughout the championship. North Atlanta started off brilliantly and scored 55 runs without losing any wickets. Some of the spectators started leaving predicting a win for North Atlanta Cricket Club.

Jay Patel made bowling changes, which brought the first breakthrough for OM. A fantastic bit of fielding by OM brought the fall of the second North Atlanta wicket. OM bowlers kept attacking the North Atlanta batsmen and backed by some brilliant fielding, the game started turning in favor of OM. The North Atlanta batsmen crumpled under the pressure and were all out for 109 runs. As the last wicket fell, there was total disbelief on the ground. Nobody expected OM to come back from the brink of defeat.

Jay Patel received the Premier Championship trophy from the FutureTech Consultants LLC representative. Sanjeev Patel was named ‘Man of the match' and Sanjay Patel was named ‘Man of the series'. Long after the match was over, people on the ground were still talking about the incredible match they had witnessed. The next in line is the 20-20 Championship which will be played in the World Cup format.
