The Georgia Association of Physicians of Indian Heritage (GAPI) held its Annual Meeting with a banquet at the Crowne Plaza Ravinia, on Saturday, April 30. The event was attended by over 275 members and graced by the presence of guests of honor, GA Attorney General Sam Olens, and Science and Technology Counselor of the Embassy of India Dr. Debapriya Dutta.

The Brahmin Samaj of Georgia’s newly elected Executive Committee, Kaushik Dave (President), Deep Thaker (Vice President), Ashish Dave (Treasurer) and Sanjay Pandya (Secretary) completed their maiden event “Homatmak Laghu Rudra” at Sardar Patel Bhavan.

On May 8th, 2011, NaachFusion, Georgia’s South Asian fusion dance academy, conducted its 2nd annual dance recital in Johns Creek, GA. Indian and some non-Indian students ranging in age from 4-45 performed Bollywood numbers.

The Conant Performing Arts Center of Oglethorpe University was filled with melodies of a different strain on the first weekend in May, as twenty eight young aspirants and music students met for the first ever Hindustani or North Indian classical music competition in Atlanta, named Crescendo 2011.

Atlanta’s Bharatanatyam exponent Chandrika Chandran with her daughter Nisha Chandran and four students, Smriti Suresh, Uma Kantheti, Trisha Dalapati and Pragya Banerjee, charmed a jam-packed hall at an Oglethorpe Museum event on the evening of April 6, 2010.
