Khabar is a FREE monthly magazine for the Indian community ONLY in GA, AL, TN & SC. Besides Indian-Americans, Khabar also reaches other South Asian immigrants in Georgia; those from countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka who share common needs for good and services. "Khabar" means news or "to know" in many Indian languages. (Despite the name, it is not a news publication, but rather a features magazine)
Since 1992, Khabar has enjoyed a central and significant presence in our vibrant community. More than 100 organizations in this area use it to communicate their events and happenings to the larger community. Our articles and editorials strive to hold an effective mirror to our community, with topics that are relevant to a wide spectrum - from new immigrants to those of the second and third generation. With stories ranging from interracial marriages to those about trials and tribulations of the youth and the seniors, the magazine provides a thought-provoking medium for the community.
Besides the compelling broader content for the diaspora, Khabar continues to focus on the local community with a comprehensive Events Calendar, an in-depth Around Town coverage, and Spotlight profiles of key people in the community.
As of October 2009, the total circulation/distribution of Khabar was 27,000 copies. Our primary distribution is through a FREE subscription (currently 17,000 copies). In addition to the mailing, the magazine is also available for free pickup at over 125 Indo-Pak-Bangla locations all over metro Atlanta. It is because of our wide availability as a free but invaluable community magazine, Khabar has been able to provide our advertisers with the maximum exposure for their advertising dollars. Our circulation has been increasing on an average of 10-15% per year. Most of our advertisers have been been advertising with us continually for many years because they have seen the results.
